We think it is important for our baby’s development to have a good variety of entertainment, so they stay busy and stimulated throughout the day. This is great for getting a decent night of rest as well and allow to get some housework done. I say decent because most babies do not sleep through the entire night. We like to use mats, seats, bouncers, and swings to entertain the babies as sometimes to get them to sleep.
The Infantino Go GaGa Tummy Time mat is so great to have. An older friend of mine gifted this to me and I never would have thought to add it to my registry. It has a growth chart, which is so fun to see Madelyn grow and also track for the First-Year baby book, I am currently working on. It helps to develop her neck and upper body to aid in sitting up and eventually eating solid foods. I love to make faces at her in the mirror making the 20 minutes a day required for tummy time be a bit more enjoyable for her. This is just an all-around easy mat to have around the house since it hardly takes up any space. The other must-have mat is the Fisher-Price deluxe kick & play piano gym. This mat allows for multiple ways to play, from sitting to laying down, tummy time and just to take along for a ride. What we love most about this mat is it aids in hand-eye coordination, it includes multiple toys to grab as well as a small mirror make faces at your baby. My oldest daughter likes to lay down next to my baby and play along.
As far as seats go, both of us have used the bumbo. It is so great to aid in sitting up and if you get the tray, you can even feed the baby snacks on the tray. It is so light and sturdy that we don’t worry about leaving the baby attended while sitting in it but of course, make sure you use the strap to secure your baby and do not put on the counter. It is a fairly affordable option to use. The other great seat option is the Fisher-Price floor seat. It is a less expensive option for the bumbo. It is probably not a good option for snacking while sitting but it is a great way to include the baby while sitting on the floor. I personally like to fold the laundry on the floor and interact with Madelyn so this works well for that.
The final options that we tend to go for to entertain our babies are the 4moms rock-a-roo and the Fisher Price bouncer. The rock-a-roo is great and takes up the least amount of space for a swing and the light motion is great to put a baby to sleep. Madelyn loves this swing. It is on the more expensive side but if you keep it in good shape, it definitely can resell pretty easily. The Fisher-Price bouncer is a great, inexpensive option. It does come in both boy and girl colors is lightweight and fold up pretty small. Madelyn absolutely loves the hanging toys and can sit there laughing at them for long periods of time.
Entertainment is great for so many reasons, anything from mats, seats, swings to bouncers. Most of the option we have discussed are inexpensive and do not require much space. We featured these favorites in our YouTube video so check those out.
